Villa Althea - Relais de Charme in Langa
Located in the heart of the Langhe wine district and surrounded by lush vineyards planted with Dolcetto and Moscato, Villa Althea is a noble country residence dating back to the early 800 and property of my ancestors. During the restoration works were found several underground tunnels and a special "crutin" (small cellar) hand dug into the tuff and used in ancient times to rainwater collector and freezer. It is assumed that one of these tunnels was connected with the basement of the nearby castle of Mango and used as an escape. Or that, given the location, the location may have been a military outpost.
This is the house that I always felt like my really, the place where I spent my childhood and most happy and peaceful moments of my life. The memory of these hills of Langa never abandoned me and I have always had the feeling, sooner or later, I would be back to give new life to this unique place. Here I have finally been able to realize a dream that I cultivated for a long time: to have a place of absolute privacy and intimacy in which "free" my artistic sense, so eclectic and versatile, creating environments that evoke my preferred styles and colors.

The Villa
Located in a natural amphitheater of vineyards, the villa enjoys a breathtaking view of the castles of the Roero (Guarene, Castellinaldo and Govone), the Alps and the hills of Monferrato. The ancient town of Alba, the capital of the white truffle and Barolo wine is at short driving while Neive village, one of the three towns of the Barbaresco wine district and ranked among the 100 most beautiful villages in Italy, is just 4 miles away from the villa.
The exteriors of the villa immediately strike the beauty of the garden where is dominating the pink color of the flowers in all its form. A tower with private balcony stands on the patio and on two large terraces, perfect places for relaxation. A beautiful garden is overlooking the swimming pool of 60 square meters surrounded by large Art Nouveau windows that you can open in Summer and have an outdoor use of the pool.
The interiors are elegant and adorned with classic-style furniture skilfully combined with an exotic one and precious fabrics by the bright colors. Each room shows great attention to detail, a passion for color and a personal eclecticism in style.
The common rooms are spacious and equipped with every comfort. Among these is a charming breakfast room; a large living room with direct access to the patio; the billiard room, the well-stocked library and a small bar area get from the woodwork of a small abandoned theater.
A large and fully equipped kitchen is located at the ground floor, with direct access to the garden. This is the ideal place for cooking all together and have some special cooking class with local chef. At same floor, and adiacent to the kitchen, is the “crutin” , the small cellar carved in the tuff which houses best bottles of local wine production and where is possible to arrange special private wine tastings with local sommeliers.
The villa is open from March to November. In the winter months opening is scheduled only for the rental of the villa in exclusive use.

Driving directions
From Autostrada Asti – Cuneo drive till CASTAGNITO. From here continue to NEIVE. Once in Neive follows signs for Mango village
From Autostrada Torino - Savona:drive till MARENE exit. From here follows Cherasco and Pollenzo. Once in Pollenzo follows for Alba (or via Pollenzo - Roddi or via Santa Vittoria D'Alba). Once on the ring road of Alba follows signs for ASTI HIGHWAY – BARBARESCO and drive till NEIVE /BARBARESCO exit . Once here follows for Neive and from Neive to Mango.
From Neive to Mango are 4 km : pay attention that the villa is located before the village of Mango. After 3 km from Neive you start seeing the villa on your right : it has yellow color and flowers pink color. Your turn at the blu sign "LOC. LUIGI "you find along the road on your right and placed exactly in the way in which you must turn.
